There are ten million people in the UK living with neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and the symptoms of a Stroke. These conditions can affect mobility, balance, strength, flexibility, thinking and coordination. Pilates can be such a powerful tool to help improve and enhance lifestyle and functional ability.

Nobel prize recipient Dr Roger Sperry said that the spine is the motor that drives the brain. According to his research,

"90% of the stimulation and nutrition to the brain is generated by movement of the spine"

Not only can Pilates stimulate the brain's function and improve strength and mobility but just as importantly, Pilates can re-establish trust and appreciation of body and mind. This workshop will explore these conditions and deliver an understanding how Pilates exercises and programmes can be designed to be so beneficial to these clients.
